ABOUT US
What inspired you to start “Our Memories” and the focus on raising awareness for dementia and Alzheimer’s?
I was inspired to create Our Memories from the love poured into me by my mom. Each hug, each birthday card, each cheer from the bleachers, each time her shoulder is here for me to cry on, and each and every home concert together are memories cherished. I want to bring more awareness to Alzheimer’s not only in my community, but across the world. At the age of 23, I became a caregiver for my mom who was diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) which developed into Early Onset Alzheimer’s. I feel that finding community is important, and to build community we must be able to have the tough conversations. We must be able to share our journey and ask for help along the way. The diagnosis is not the end. I want to challenge communities to continue learning and become more vigilant so that we can increase safe spaces for our loved one. This journey gives us time to create memories, Our Memories.
